BRENTWOOD BUSINESSES GET TOP FIVE TIPS FOR USING VIDEO IN MARKETING

Brentwood businesses were given some good advice on how to make the best use of video when they attended the Effective Business Network (ebn) Brentwood Network Group at MaryGreen Manor.

The Director of Brentwood-based Capricorn media, Robin Bailey, said: “Put the video on your website’s home page and link to it through social media to maximize your audience.

“Replace blurb with video because people’s attention span is shorter than ever before and a punchy video can say so much more than a batch of written paragraphs. They say a picture is worth a thousand words; video is worth many more!

“Keep it brief, the YouTube generation download videos all the time and you will regularly see videos from ten seconds to two minutes in duration, in most cases. A good video producer should be able to make your point in two minutes.

“Quality audio is key. Just because this is video, it does not mean you can ignore the quality of the sound. It undermines the credibility of the person talking and the company represented.

“Agree all the upfront costs and avoid the problem of being ‘surprised’ by extra add-on costs for things you had not allowed for.”

ebn Managing Director Glenys Chatterley said: “ebn members not only build good contacts to help grow their businesses but also get regular, free advice from experts to help them meet their business and family needs.

“The Brentwood Group meets on alternate Thursdays at MaryGreen Manor, with the next meeting being on 12 February. More information is available from www.ebn.uk.com/Brentwood.”

CHELMSFORD BUSINESSES GET TOP FIVE TIPS FOR MANAGING THEIR FINANCES

Chelmsford businesses got some good new year advice on how to manage their finances when they attended the Effective Business Network (ebn) Chelmsford Network Group at Pontlands Park Hotel.

Director of Burstead-based Hutchinson Financial Planning Ltd Robert Hutchinson said: “Often the new year is when people make resolutions, most of which fall by the wayside by the middle of January. But getting finances organised should be one that people keep. One way is to review their finances regularly.

“Many people like to pretend that they will live forever, even though the odds are not good.

“Arrange a regular, at least annually, full financial review by a qualified, licensed, insured financial adviser/planner.

“Establish and regularly review a Will with a qualified Wills Practitioner.

“Establish and maintain a personal/household cash flow budget spreadsheet, including savings and pension plan, and establish and maintain an emergency fund of cash that equates to at least three months’ living expenses – ideally, six months.

“With regard to all financial matters: if you don’t understand it, don’t do it, and if it looks too good to be true, it is, so don’t do it.”

ebn Managing Director Glenys Chatterley said: “ebn members not only build good contacts to help grow their businesses but also get regular, free advice from experts to help them meet their business and family needs.

“The Chelmsford Group meets on alternate Fridays at Pontlands Park Hotel, with the next meeting on 6 February.  More information is available from www.ebn.uk.com/Chelmsford.”
